GEA is one of the largest suppliers of process technology for the food industry and for a wide range of other industries. As an international technology group, the company focuses on world-leading process solutions and components for sophisticated production processes.
Since 1893 we have been building centrifuges for separating liquids and liquid mixtures. Whether separators or decanters, our expertise combines high separating and clarifying efficiencies and throughput capacities to deliver maximum savings in terms of energy, water, production and disposal costs.
We do not sell off-the-shelf products: for optimum performance, our centrifuges are selected and then tailored to meet the specific processing needs of each customer.
We have delivered more than 3,000 process applications using this approach over the last 125 years, which provides us with an excellent foundation for evaluating and developing process engineering solutions for our customers. Our development engineers carry out product analyses, analytical measurements, machine trials and process developments to improve existing processes as well as develop completely new products and applications.
Role and main tasks within the project:
GEA’s role is to design a bio-refinery process in which both rubber and inulin can be extracted on a pilot scale and to deliver large scale samples of dry rubber and inulin for product testing and analysis. GEA was also asked to look at processing options for waste streams from both rubber and inulin.
